The saxophone is a type of musical instrument in the woodwind family. It uses a single reed to make sound. Musicians usually describe the saxophone’s sound as mellow yet powerful, and round yet complex. The saxophone family consists of the soprano, alto, tenor, and bass saxophones. We start all students on the alto saxophone, which is pitched in Eb. Eventually, they may move on to playing other saxophones at a later stage.

The alto saxophone is quite large in size and carries some weight. Consequently, we recommend saxophone lessons for students who are 9 years of age or older. At this age, a student has the physical strength and size to hold the instrument comfortably.
You will also learn about famous players who have defined its sound and style, such as the legendary Charlie Parker, the expressive Julia Nolan, the academic Eugene Rousseau, and the world-renowned Kenny G.
Our curriculum for saxophone lessons is designed to immerse students in the instrument’s vast and beautiful repertoire. You will explore famous pieces that showcase the saxophone’s range and expressive power. This includes classic pop tunes like “Careless Whisper” and “Just The Way You Are“, as well as classical masterpieces such as Musorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.
