A Passion for the Flute and Music Advocacy
Mr. Chan studied under the guidance of world-renowned flutist Robert Aitken. Consequently, he has become a highly sought-after flute teacher in Hong Kong. He also directs a number of flute choirs and ensembles. Since 2000, Mr. Chan has played a key role in promoting flute choir and flute orchestra activities. He established Hong Kong’s first flute choir at Raimondi College (Secondary Section). This choir featured complete instrumentation from the entire flute family. Furthermore, in 2003, Mr. Chan founded the Hong Kong Flute Centre. He then created the Hong Kong Flute Centre Flute Orchestra to further promote and advance flute artistry. Notably, Ringo Chan was the first flutist to introduce the contrabass flute and subcontrabass flute to Hong Kong audiences. In 2006, he also founded the first Hong Kong Summer Flute Camp. The National Flute Association of the United States later appointed him as an event reporter for Asian regions.
