What a great honor it was to meet with renowned French flutist Frédéric Coll! As an expert in flute orchestra music and a member of the world-renowned OFF (French Flute Orchestra), Maestro Coll made a very special visit to the Hong Kong Flute Centre this afternoon. We spent two very productive hours chatting about music for flute orchestra and the developments of flute ensembles in both France and Hong Kong. It was truly an inspiring conversation, and I learned so much from him.
Developing Flute Orchestra Collaborations
We are excited to announce that new ideas are in the process of becoming concrete plans and actions. Our goal is to bring flute orchestras from both France and Hong Kong together for exchanges and collaborations. We believe this cross-cultural musical experience will be invaluable for our students and the wider musical community. Stay tuned for an announcement shortly! During our meeting, Maestro Coll also enjoyed a new arrangement for flute orchestra of Leslie Cheung’s “My Dearest”. He was so impressed with the quality and sound of the instruments that he made a very satisfactory and convincing decision to become the proud owner of a fabulous Burkart piccolo! This is a wonderful testament to the quality of our instruments and the passion we share for music.
It was an absolute pleasure to share this time with you, Maestro Coll. I look forward to seeing you again soon in Hong Kong, and of course, in Paris during my next visit! I am particularly excited for our Hong Kong flute orchestra and OFF to have the opportunity to play together in the very near future!
