Joel Tse Flute Lessons Hong Kong: Residency & Master Instruction!
Attention Hong Kong flutists and any overseas flutists visiting Hong Kong in July and August 2024: here’s your chance to experience the authentic teaching philosophy and methodology of William Bennett! The Hong Kong Flute Centre is very pleased and excited to welcome our very own Hong Kong flutist, Joel Tse, from the United States of America. He will be our resident flutist, offering Joel Tse Flute Lessons Hong Kong from July 12 to August 15, 2024. This is a unique opportunity for all flutists to enhance their skills.
Master Instruction & The William Bennett Legacy
Maestro Joel will be available to give one-on-one instruction to flutists of all levels during his residency. He is a major pupil of the William Bennett (WIBB) School of teaching, and perhaps one of its most well-known figures. Joel has developed a lifelong, inseparable relationship with WIBB. This includes teaching at the William Bennett’s International Flute Summer School in England, Belgium, and Italy for several consecutive summers. He has also been the master “chef” at many major WIBB’s flute events, making him uniquely qualified to offer these Joel Tse Flute Lessons Hong Kong.
Joel Tse’s Extensive Education and Career
Before studying with WIBB, Joel earned a Bachelor’s degree with a Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music. He also holds a Master’s degree from Northwestern University and a Performance Diploma from the Royal Academy of Music in London. His esteemed teachers include Bonita Boyd, Walfrid Kujula (for piccolo), Jeffrey Khaner, and Keith Underwood.
An American Chinese of Hong Kong origin, Joel has held many prestigious Principal Flute positions with major orchestras throughout his career. He served as Principal Flute for The Toledo Symphony since 1998, and for The New World Symphony in Miami Beach, FL, between 1995-1997. Additionally, Joel held the same position for the Hong Kong Philharmonic from 2001-02. He regularly performs as a guest Principal Flute with the English Chamber Orchestra and Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
World-Renowned Performer and Educator
Joel is an active soloist and chamber musician globally. He has been invited to perform recitals in England, Singapore, Japan, and Costa Rica, among other places. Furthermore, he has played chamber music across Europe, Asia, Russia, South America, Greece, Turkey, and Israel. He has participated in several renowned music festivals, including three consecutive summers with the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan, as well as the American-Soviet Youth Orchestra.
In July 2000, conductor Michael Tilson Thomas invited Joel to perform with the Pacific Music Festival’s 10th-anniversary orchestra. This involved touring throughout the country with an orchestra comprised of professional musicians from around the globe.
As an experienced, sought-after teacher, Joel has presented masterclasses for the Costa Rica International Flute Festival. He has also served on the faculty of the University of Toledo Music Department since 2008 and Bowling Green State University College of Musical Arts since 2016. Joel plays on a French flute made by Louis Lot, #1720, circa 1872.
