Vicky Choi is a highly qualified music educator whose pedagogical approach is built upon a rigorous academic and professional foundation. A recipient of the Parson Music Entrance Scholarship, Vicky earned both a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Creative Arts and Culture and a Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Music from The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). This dual-degree background provides her with a unique advantage in the classroom, combining high-level artistic scholarship with the formal pedagogical training necessary to manage diverse learning needs and foster long-term musical development in her students.

Founding Leadership and Institutional Expertise

Vicky has played a pivotal role in the development of music departments within Hong Kong’s leading international schools. She was appointed as one of the founding Music Teachers at the Preparatory School of Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong, where she was instrumental in establishing the school’s initial musical culture and curriculum. Currently, she continues to shape the strings landscape in Hong Kong, teaching strings programs at Nord Anglia International School Hong Kong, Shrewsbury International School Hong Kong, and Creative Secondary School. Her work in these prestigious institutions focuses on building robust instrumental programs and guiding school-based ensembles toward technical and expressive excellence.

Orchestral Pedagogy and Strings Mastery

As an expert in string pedagogy, Vicky brings extensive orchestral experience to her ensemble coaching. An avid violinist since her formative years, she studied under the tutelage of Mr. Simon Li of the Hong Kong Music Office and performed as a member of both the New Territories Youth String Orchestra and the Hong Kong Youth String Orchestra. Vicky holds ABRSM Performance Diplomas in both Violin and Viola, a dual-instrumental proficiency that allows her to offer comprehensive instruction across the string section. By integrating her experience from masterclasses with visiting global educators, she helps students bridge the gap between solo technical drills and the collaborative requirements of high-level ensemble playing.

Piano Excellence and Global Artistic Engagement

In addition to her strings expertise, Vicky is an accomplished piano pedagogue and an accompanist who studied under Miss Lin Sze-wing, Miss Fung Hiu-kwan, and Mr. Tino Maxwell. She holds an ATCL Piano Performance Diploma with Distinction from Trinity College London and has been recognized as a finalist in the Japan Hamamatsu Piara Piano Competition. Her commitment to music education extends beyond the studio through her participation in international music exchange programs and competitions. Having received numerous awards at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival in piano solo, piano duet, and violin categories, Vicky uses her competitive success to inspire a standard of excellence and a global musical perspective in all of her students.
