Ukulele is fun, easy and it’s the perfect gateway instrument. With 4 soft nylon strings, simplified fretboard, its small size to be hold and carried around, ukulele is the easiest instrument for young children to start with.
Although the ukulele doesn’t contain pitch range as wide as the guitar, it can function just like the guitar, be it with strumming, doing melody lines or finger style playing, but ukulele is smaller, lighter and the frets in between are closer, which make ukulele playing easier for children to manage and more satisfying to play with!
The ukulele comes in 4 main sizes, in ascending order they’re Soprano, Concert, Tenor and Baritone, so when children are growing up they can choose to change the ukulele size in order to fit their fingers, however, many people even as adult love to play the Soprano or Concert sizes due to their portable sizes. So young kids and adults can both enjoy this small and sweet sounding instrument!
