Born and raised in Hong Kong, Wing-sum Ng Sophie is a talented cellist, electronic music producer, and composer who shares her love for music with others. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the prestigious Berklee College of Music (BCM) in Boston, USA, where she majored in cello performance and electronic music production.

Sophie has had the privilege of studying under several renowned cello masters, including Owen Young from the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Eugene Friesen, a four-time Grammy award recipient. Her early achievements include earning a distinction in the ABRSM Cello diploma at just 13 years old and securing second place in the China region selection of the 10th Singapore-China International Music Competition in 2016.

At BCM, Sophie embraced her passion for collaboration, performing as a regular cello recording artist and contributing to various musical projects, from film scores to contemporary and pop music. She has been an active member of multiple BCM ensembles, including orchestras and chamber groups, showcasing her versatility as a musician.

In addition to her performance career, Sophie is a dedicated conductor for several string ensembles at local schools. She not only leads her teams but also arranges music to inspire young musicians. Over the years, she has enhanced her skills in violin and piano, allowing her to manage her ensembles with greater confidence and creativity.

Sophie’s commitment to music education and her friendly approach make her a wonderful mentor for aspiring young musicians. She fosters a supportive environment where students can explore their musical talents and grow as performers.
