Liu graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) Degree in 2002, majoring in composition with Mr Law Wing Fai and electronic music with Mr Clarence Mak.
In addition to her compositional work, Liu has involved in numerous teaching activities. Among others, she was appointed the instructor of the Creative Music Workshop for Young Friends at the Hong Kong Arts Festival 2005, and was commissioned by local primary schools to introduce electronic and contemporary music to the younger generations. She is also a founding member of the Creator Of Music Performance Organization, a non-profit making platform designed to encourage composers and performers to release their works.
Liu earned an Advanced Certificate in Piano Performance from the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music. She also received Grade 8 cello and Grade 8 theory certificates from the same Board. In terms of scholarships, she was awarded the HSBC-funded HKSAR-Mainland Exchange Scholarship in 2001 and 2002. Through this exchange scholarship programme, she was given the opportunity to study composing at the leading Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China. In 2004, she received the Society of APA Scholarship.
Currently a private tutor in piano, cello as well as music theory, Liu is also an experienced accompanist for instrumental exams and music festivals to support students and performers of all ages and skill levels.
