Band Training Curriculums: We aim to reinforce in both personal and group playing skills of students
who have instrument trainings at school through letting them join different
size of bands. Parents and students can work together to see whether they
are interested in joining band class, so to plan for the future path in
learning music. According to our pass experiences, many our students have
significant improvements which we find that they are talented in this area.
We then offer them more in-depth systematic and in-depth trainings.
We take the “School of Music, University of British” summer music program as
our training basis in teaching our students. We focus more in band training
skills and arrange students to take part in orchestral concerts to show
their learning outcomes. The whole series of training are in-charged by Pure
Orchestral Center, Director, Mr Chan Tze Yue, Ringo and his professional
Musical performance is one of the most important elements in the course. For
the qualified students, they will be arranged to take part in the Pure
Orchestral Center Annual Concert which hold in the Youth Square on the 2nd September to show their learning outcomes.
A certificate signed by the Pure orchestral Center, Hong Kong Flute Center,
will be issued to participants who take part in summer
music training programs.
Junior Concert Band (JCB)
Suitable for students who have at least one year experience in Wind Band or

Intermediate Concert Band (ICB)
Suitable for participants who have at least three years in Wind Band or Wind

Suitable for participants who have grade 1 to grade three in ABRSM or

Intermediate String Orchestra (ISO)
Suitable for participants who have grade 4 or higher in ABRSM or Trinity

All students have to bring their own instruments, except joining the

The UBC Summer Music & English
Institute 2009 (abbreviated as "SMEI 2009") is an English and Music
Institute jointly organized by PURE Orchestral Centre Hong Kong and the
University of British Columbia, BC, Canada. The purposes of the
Institute are fivefold: (a) to enhance the musical instrument playing
skills of all participants, (b) to improve their English proficiency,
(c) to solidify their independence and teamwork ability, (d) to learn
from top faculty at a world-renown North American university, and (e) to
maximize the effective use and return of the summer vacation.
Our first Institute in 2002 and subsequent institutes in
2004,2005,2006,2007 & 2008 were all executed with great successes.
Feedbacks were extremely positive. Students' music playing skills and
English proficiency have significantly improved. Cross-cultural
friendships were built. Global experience was added to each of the
